Dear Parent:
I am sure you are well aware of the current and developing national situation with the COVID-19 virus. In attempting to respond to rapidly changing and unforeseen circumstances, the District’s Board of Trustees and Superintendent have decided by Resolution, to cancel all classroom instruction for District students for the time being and to provide academic lessons via online or paper-based platforms. During this time, the District will be providing limited options to parents of how to continue your child(s) educational services.
Because, the decision is being implemented without delay, we will not be able to hold individual ARD committee meetings at this time to document the students’ change in Schedule, placement or Services.
If conditions allow, we will hold ARD committee meetings and/or 504 Meetings at a later time to address the individual implications of the present situation on each special education student.
We ask for your patience and cooperation as we attempt to navigate this highly unusual set of circumstances. In addition, we are awaiting additional guidance from State and Federal education authorities and will advise you in that regard as information is made available.
*NOTE: PER ADVICE PROVIDED BY THE SPECIAL EDUCATION COUNSEL.
Sincerely,
Gilbert S. Morales, M.Ed.

CSCISD Child Find
All children with disabilities residing in the state of Texas, regardless of the severity of their disabilities, and who are in need of special education and related services, must be identified, located, and evaluated. This process is defined in federal and state regulations as CHILD FIND. CSCISD participates in CHILD FIND through referrals for evaluation from parents and from the educators who work with the child in the classroom. Parents of pre-school aged children who may be concerned about the development of their child or suspect that their child may have a disability are encouraged to contact their home campus. When a referral is made, the campus will gather some information about the child and parent, including contact information and the issues of concern.
If you have a friend, neighbor, or family member who may need support, detailed information is available on Texas Project First
Child Find Update Video, ESC10
General information about special education is located in the CSCISD Guide to Special Education at the CSCISD Special Education Website. The district special education office is also available to assist a parent who is concerned about their child. The CSCISD campus list may be accessed from the webpage at www.cscisd.net . The phone number to the Special Education Office is 830-876-3503, ext. 1402.
